Raised level of the beehive
In order to protect the beehive, we can install it to a raised level, which represents a physical barrier to the brown bear. To prevent the access, the beehive must be raised at least 2.5 m from the ground.
Counterweight bars
Counterweight bars are used to protect beehives from damages caused by bears and represent the physically barrier. Bars are usually made from metal or wood, and are attached to the beehive’s framework and interconnect the beehive inside.
Electro-doormats
As a measure to prevent bears from entering human structures or homes, electro-doormats have been used abroad effectively for many years. In Slovenia, we do not face the problem of bears entering the homes, so we want to test this prevention measure on the human property.
